Installed kernel 3.11-rc2, and found a patch for the NVIDIA driver 325.08, which can be accessed via the dev Forum:

With VMware, it turned out that – even with the 3.10 patch – vmblock fails to compile, yet again:

So.. the workaround is the same as for 3.10 before that vmblock patch was created..   Simply edit /etc/vmware/config to prevent the compilation of vmblock, and remember that you need to use # vmware-modconfig –icon=vmware-workstation –appname=VMware (after deleting any existing kernel module files in the …./misc directory) for this to work..
