Dreamplug – Right Up-to-Date with 3.6-rc3..
After all the fuss with ancient versions of Linux on the APC, I now have the very latest Linux – 3.6-rc3 – running on the Dreamplug..:
Fedora release 17 (Beefy Miracle) Kernel 3.6.0-rc3 on an armv5tel (ttyS0) rgdreamplug login: ............. # uname -a Linux rgdreamplug 3.6.0-rc3 #1 Fri Aug 24 00:20:25 BST 2012 armv5tel armv5tel armv5tel GNU/Linux
Although – for some reason – kernel 3.5.x hangs after initial boot, 3.6-rc3 was no problem to get running, and I used the same .config as for my 3.5.x attempts..
Nice to have a modern OS – and distro – running on an ARM system… Hopefully there will be a more recent kernel than 3.2.24 available for the Raspberry Pi, soon…
Great to hear, interested in how you did this. Please share
There is more detail on how this is done, in earlier articles. One of these days, when I have the time, I might write a complete step-by-step guide, but this sort of thing does assume a certain level of knowledge of Linux kernel patching and compiling, cross-compiling, sd card formatting, etc..
