VMware – 17.6 released, and Version Fix Patch..
VMware Workstation Pro version 17.6 has been released, and release notes are here: https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-Workstation-Pro/17.6/rn/vmware-workstation-176-pro-release-notes/index.html
The ‘fixes’ mentioned are a bit late, as they include Fedora 40 support, and Kernel 6.8 support.. The ‘latest’ 6.9+ patchset is required to support more recent kernels, from https://github.com/nan0desu/vmware-host-modules/tree/tmp/workstation-17.5.2-k6.9-sharishth but these will throw a vmmon version-mismatch error at runtime.. The simple fix for this is available in this thread, and thanks to Chaz6 for the patch: https://github.com/mkubecek/vmware-host-modules/issues/278 . I have applied these, and VMware 17.6 now works OK with kernels 6.10 and 6.11-rc. (tested with 6.10.7 and 6.11-rc6)

It does not work, half of my VMs cannot run on openSUSE Tumbleweed host with this new module.
RHEL8 forks can start and be installed. RHEL9 – no, Fedora 40 – no. OpenSUSE – yes.
It starts, but stucks on installer loading with high CPU usage (2-3 cores at maximum).
Same hardware with Windows 11 host works fine.
I don’t see my original comment here. Why?
I’ll just put this here in case it helps someone resolve issues with version 17.6.0.

At least I can now run RHEL9-based machines. I will continue to test rest ones…
