VMware have announced the release of Workstation Pro 16:  https://blogs.vmware.com/workstation/2020/08/announcing-workstation-16-and-fusion-12.html

From various comments seen elsewhere, it would appear that WS 16 should include fixes for Kernel 5.8/5.9 runtime compatibility..   Actual release date is – so far – vague, but may be sometime towards the end of September..
