NVIDIA – Finally, a 4.16-Compatible Driver..
NVIDIA has released beta driver 396.18, and – at last – this is compatible with Kernel 4.16 (tested with 4.16.1).

I’m leaving a comment just to let you know your blog has been very helpful to me.
I have a Dell XPS 15 with an nvidia GPU and was having lots of trouble choosing a kernel and driver version combo that worked.
Kernel 4.16.12 and nvidia 396.24 is working like a charm.
I hope I can upgrade to 4.17 once it’s ready but definitely going to take a look at this blog first.
