I have applied this patch, and VMware Workstation 17.0.2 now loads/runs OK with Kernel 6.5-rc5 on my test system..

This does need more research, and some of the ongoing discussions can be found at:  https://github.com/mkubecek/vmware-host-modules/issues/202   In the interests of full disclosure, I should mention that ayles2014 is an old GitHub account that I set up many years ago, and never used, until now.. (I used to live in Aylesbury…)
