Fedora – Fun with ZRAM..

Adventures With Linux ™ Posted on September 4, 2020 by RGSeptember 4, 2020

Fedora 33 will be using ZRAM as standard for swap, rather than a partition or swapfile on disk.    I had no problem with this on a new F33 install (Odroid H2Plus) but after upgrading an existing Fedora 32 system it refused to initialise, and ‘/dev/zram0‘ did not exist.    Research revealed that the documentation for much of this … Continue reading →

PA-RISC – Back to the Future (Again..)

Adventures With Linux ™ Posted on August 8, 2018 by RGAugust 8, 2018

As part of my quest to test Linux on more obscure/historical hardware, and given that the theme was ‘HP’ after my perilous foray into the world of Linux on IA64, I have now acquired (eBay!) an ‘inexpensive’ PA-RISC system – HP 9000/785 C3700 – after upgrading from an older C3000, and adding some more up-to-date IO cards.. … Continue reading →

ARM – The Secret is Out – ‘Pidora 2014’ is Here..

Adventures With Linux ™ Posted on February 18, 2014 by RGFebruary 18, 2014

Thanks to invaluable information from Mace Moneta, I have now been able to find the location of the (recent) release of Pidora 20 — now, for some reason, known as ‘Pidora 2014‘.. For details and links, see the comments section at the bottom of my previous article: http://rglinuxtech.com/?p=1048 I started the upgrade (from Pidora 19), which took … Continue reading →

Fedora Upgrade – 16 to 17..

Adventures With Linux ™ Posted on May 18, 2012 by RGMay 18, 2012

After all the Pi excitement, back to (relative) normality.. I upgraded my main (x86_64) systems to Fedora 17, using YUM, as usual..    I have found that using the DVD is messy, and sometimes leaves the system in a ‘hybrid’ state, and then the DVD versions of many packages need to be updated, in any case! Compared to … Continue reading →
