NVIDIA – New Driver 570.124.04 – OK with Kernel 6.14, and Now Installs Consistently?

Adventures With Linux ™ Posted on March 5, 2025 by RGMarch 5, 2025

NVIDIA driver 570.124.04 is out, and details are here:  https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/details/241089/ This now works OK with Kernel 6.14 (tested with 6.14-rc5) and also seems (so far…) to have fixed the annoying ‘install fail, but compile OK’ problem which appeared – seemingly at random – with recent drivers.. Robert Gadsdon.   March 3rd 2025.. … Continue reading →

Kernel – 5.14 is Out. OK with Latest NVIDIA, and Patched VMware. (and… Happy Birthday)

Adventures With Linux ™ Posted on August 29, 2021 by RGAugust 29, 2021

Kernel 5.14 has been released, and the release notes include a subtle hint about the 30th anniversary of Linux – which I must confess I had forgotten…   I have only been using it since 1997..   Read it here:  http://lkml.iu.edu/hypermail/linux/kernel/2108.3/05438.html As expected, this is OK with the latest NVIDIA driver 470.63.01, and with the latest (July 2021) patched … Continue reading →

ARM64 – Pine64 – Not Exactly ‘Compact’..

Adventures With Linux ™ Posted on June 7, 2016 by RGJune 7, 2016

I recently obtained one of the newly-released (- to the ‘public’..) Pine64 ARM64 systems…    My first reaction, was that it is a bit on the large side..  The board is over twice the size of the Odroid C2.. As usual, the ‘standard’ U-Boot was a heavily-customised old version, that only mounted Android-format Kernel ‘blob’s, but a hacked … Continue reading →

ARM – Kernel 4.4-rc4 on the BananaPro..

Adventures With Linux ™ Posted on December 14, 2015 by RGDecember 14, 2015

Just got a ‘BananaPro‘ ARMv7 board, and updated it to Kernel 4.4-rc4 (from kernel.org) and Fedora 23. More details are here:  http://linux-sunxi.org/LeMaker_Banana_Pro I compiled U-Boot from the latest (2015.10) released version, from ftp.denx.de/pub/u-boot/ : # cd u-boot # make Bananapro_defconfig # make ARCH=arm CROSS_COMPILE=arm-linux-gnu- (or whatever cross-compiler you are using) Then as root, copy to the SDCard … Continue reading →

ARM – ARM64 Developments…

Adventures With Linux ™ Posted on June 25, 2015 by RGJune 26, 2015

Just took delivery of a Qualcomm Dragonboard 410c (https://developer.qualcomm.com/hardware/dragonboard-410c) : The unit is based on a ‘standard’ (96Boards) design, with a few quirks..   The device uses fastboot rather than U-Boot, and in this respect is more like flashing a custom ROM on a cellphone!    It even has on-board volume up/down buttons.. There is no Ethernet built-in, so … Continue reading →
