{"id":932,"date":"2013-11-11T10:21:13","date_gmt":"2013-11-11T10:21:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rglinuxtech.com\/?p=932"},"modified":"2013-11-11T10:21:13","modified_gmt":"2013-11-11T10:21:13","slug":"pidora-19-alpha-revived","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rglinuxtech.com\/?p=932","title":{"rendered":"Pidora &#8211; 19 Alpha &#8211; Revived?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Thanks to a comment from <strong>Mace Moneta<\/strong>, I learned that there is an &#8216;alpha release&#8217; of <strong>Pidora 19<\/strong> now available:<br \/>\n<a class=\"comment-link\" title=\"https:\/\/lists.fedoraproject.org\/pipermail\/arm\/2013-November\/007021.html\" href=\"https:\/\/lists.fedoraproject.org\/pipermail\/arm\/2013-November\/007021.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">https:\/\/lists.fedoraproject.org\/pipermail\/arm\/2013-November\/007021.html<\/a><\/p>\n<p>It was a little odd that no mention of this could be found on the Pidora website or Wiki, but hopefully these will be updated in due course..<\/p>\n<pre><strong>Pidora release 19 (Raspberry Pi Fedora Remix)<\/strong>\r\n<strong>Kernel 3.12.0+ on an armv6l (ttyAMA0)<\/strong><\/pre>\n<p>This &#8216;update&#8217; is actually a replacement, as it consists of a boot\/root file system image..\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Hopefully future updates will be available &#8211; at least &#8211; by the usual &#8216;<em><strong>yum releasever&#8230;. distro-sync<\/strong><\/em>&#8216; method.<\/p>\n<p>For those of you who cross-compile their own kernels, it is worth mentioning there is a useful copy of a kernel <em>.config<\/em> file in the boot directory, which includes options for selinux etc. that are necessary for successful booting with this release of Pidora.<\/p>\n<p>After booting into Pidora 19, I encountered the same frustrating &#8216;missing repo server&#8217; problem that plagued the initial release of Pidora 18.\u00a0\u00a0 However, after about 6 hours, the server came back online again.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 You will find there are several version mismatches, as this alpha release includes several Pidora 18 apps, but this is -after all &#8211; only an <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Alpha<\/span> release.<\/p>\n<p>Hopefully the Pidora release cycle will be able to catch up with <em>mainstream<\/em> Fedora, which is soon to release <strong>Fedora 20<\/strong> (which I am already running successfully on all my x86_64 systems).<\/p>\n<p><em>Robert Gadsdon\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 November 11, 2013.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Thanks to a comment from Mace Moneta, I learned that there is an &#8216;alpha release&#8217; of Pidora 19 now available: https:\/\/lists.fedoraproject.org\/pipermail\/arm\/2013-November\/007021.html It was a little odd that no mention of this could be found on the Pidora website or Wiki, but hopefully these will be updated in due course..
