Excellent on Linux, Fails on Android.?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>Opinion:<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\nI started out with Linux in 1997, and at that time Mosaic was looking a bit old-hat, and Netscape Navigator was the app that had the most use (along with GIMP).\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 After moving &#8211; over the years &#8211; to Mozilla, and later to Firebird (quickly rebranded to <strong>Firefox<\/strong>), this has always been my browser of choice.<\/p>\n<p>With Android, I wish I could say the same&#8230;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 My first &#8216;Droid &#8216;smartphone&#8217; suffered from &#8216;<em>not available for your platform<\/em>&#8216; when attempting Firefox installs, and later devices installed OK, but were <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">incredibly<\/span> sluggish..<\/p>\n<p>Now, I get more problems, with lack of proper <strong>Flash<\/strong> support..\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Of course, this is mainly due to Adobe abandoning Linux-based systems, but at least Fedora keeps a working Flash plugin version up-to-date..\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 For Android, the Firefox user is supposed to be able to navigate to an obscure Adobe &#8216;<em>obsolete versions<\/em>&#8216; download location, and install manually.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Not the sort of task the &#8216;average user&#8217; would feel confident performing..\u00a0 With later Android versions, I found that this plugin just crashes Firefox..<\/p>\n<p>I have been forced to use Chrome on Android, as it &#8211; to use that awful phrase &#8211; &#8216;just works straight out of the box&#8217;&#8230;\u00a0\u00a0 I have tried other browsers, such as Opera and Dolphin, but found that Chrome was the best of a mediocre bunch..<\/p>\n<p>Of course, everyone is supposed to be using HTML5 now, but many of the major websites still aren&#8217;t.<br \/>\n<a title=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/1\/hi\/help\/7277283.stm#html5\" href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/1\/hi\/help\/7277283.stm#html5\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/1\/hi\/help\/7277283.stm#html5<\/a><\/p>\n<p>When all websites <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">do<\/span> use HTML5, Firefox on Android will probably be great, but until that time, I need a browser that works now!<\/p>\n<p><em>Robert Gadsdon\u00a0\u00a0 October 9, 2013.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Opinion: I started out with Linux in 1997, and at that time Mosaic was looking a bit old-hat, and Netscape Navigator was the app that had the most use (along with GIMP).\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 After moving &#8211;
