Just noticed there is now an official<\/span> 3.8.y kernel, at:\u00a0 https:\/\/github.com\/raspberrypi\/linux\/tree\/rpi-3.8.y-temp<\/a><\/p>\n

This may change to just .…\/rpi-3.8.y<\/em> later..<\/p>\n

Code is based on the latest 3.8 kernel – 3.8.4<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Select config from:<\/p>\n

arch\/arm\/configs\/bcmrpi_cutdown_defconfig\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 arch\/arm\/configs\/bcmrpi_emergency_defconfig
\narch\/arm\/configs\/bcmrpi_defconfig\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 arch\/arm\/configs\/bcmrpi_quick_defconfig<\/p>\n

I used # make bcmrpi_defconfig<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Then # make xconfig<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Under <File systems>, I deselected all file systems support, except ext2\/3\/4..<\/p>\n

Under <File systems-DOS\/FAT\/NT>, I deselected NTFS (as it is _fully_ supported in userland NTFS-3G<\/em>)<\/p>\n

There is more probably-superfluous stuff selected, which you can deselect if you don’t need it..<\/p>\n

At end of compilation, got error:<\/p>\n

ERROR: “v6wbi_flush_kern_tlb_range” [drivers\/staging\/zsmalloc\/zsmalloc.ko] undefined!<\/strong>
\nmake[1]: *** [__modpost] Error 1<\/strong>
\nmake: *** [modules] Error 2<\/strong><\/p>\n

So.. I just deselected <Staging drivers> and re-compiled..<\/p>\n

Compiled OK, and booted OK..<\/p>\n

\n………….<\/strong>

I expect this code may be updated again, soon, and the ‘-temp<\/em>‘ suffix changed..<\/p>\n
