I have updated the 3.6.1-pi<\/strong> kernel to version 3.6.3-pi,<\/strong> by applying the two incremental patches from kernel.org..\u00a0 patch-3.6.1-2 <\/em>and patch-3.6.2-3<\/em>.<\/p>\n

$ uname -a<\/em><\/strong>
\nLinux rgpi 3.6.3-pi #1 Mon Oct 22 21:02:54 BST 2012 armv6l armv6l armv6l GNU\/Linux<\/strong><\/p>\n

I have found a rather perverse feature of the Pi…\u00a0\u00a0 If you want to shutdown and halt, using the # shutdown -h now<\/em><\/strong> or # poweroff<\/strong> <\/em>commands, the system will shutdown and then immediately re-boot .
\nIf you want the system to shutdown and reboot, using # shutdown -r now<\/em><\/strong>, it will shutdown and attempt to reboot, and fail:
\n# shutdown -r now<\/em><\/strong>
\n…………<\/strong>
\nEXT4-fs (mmcblk0p2): re-mounted. Opts: (null)<\/strong>
\nRestarting system.<\/strong>
\nReboot failed — System halted<\/strong><\/p>\n

So – to reboot, use the halt<\/em> command, and to halt, use the reboot<\/em> command!<\/p>\n

Update:\u00a0\u00a0 FYI.. The incremental<\/em><\/strong> patches are at\u00a0 ftp:\/\/ftp.kernel.org\/pub\/linux\/kernel\/v3.0\/incr\/<\/a><\/p>\n
