{"id":533,"date":"2012-10-22T21:55:40","date_gmt":"2012-10-22T20:55:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rglinuxtech.com\/?p=533"},"modified":"2012-10-22T21:55:40","modified_gmt":"2012-10-22T20:55:40","slug":"pi-bumped-up-to-3-6-3-pi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rglinuxtech.com\/?p=533","title":{"rendered":"Pi &#8211; Bumped up to 3.6.3-pi.."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I have updated the <strong>3.6.1-pi<\/strong> kernel to version <strong>3.6.3-pi,<\/strong> by applying the two incremental patches from kernel.org..\u00a0<em> patch-3.6.1-2 <\/em>and <em>patch-3.6.2-3<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>$ <em>uname -a<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Linux rgpi 3.6.3-pi #1 Mon Oct 22 21:02:54 BST 2012 armv6l armv6l armv6l GNU\/Linux<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I have found a rather perverse feature of the Pi&#8230;\u00a0\u00a0 If you want to shutdown and halt, using the <strong><em># shutdown -h now<\/em><\/strong> or <em><strong># poweroff<\/strong> <\/em>commands, the system will shutdown and then immediately re-boot .<br \/>\nIf you want the system to shutdown and reboot, using <strong><em># shutdown -r now<\/em><\/strong>, it will shutdown and attempt to reboot, and fail:<br \/>\n<strong># <em>shutdown -r now<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>EXT4-fs (mmcblk0p2): re-mounted. Opts: (null)<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Restarting system.<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Reboot failed &#8212; System halted<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>So &#8211; to reboot, use the <em>halt<\/em> command, and to halt, use the <em>reboot<\/em> command!<\/p>\n<p>Update:\u00a0\u00a0 FYI..
