In a vain attempt to get the APC’s antique kernel to – at least – work with Fedora 14, I had been applying the series of ‘incremental’ 2.6.32.x patches available – amongst other places – at http:\/\/ftp.monash.edu.au\/pub\/linux\/kernel\/v2.6\/incr\/<\/a><\/p>\n

The kernel.org ftp site didn’t seem to have the full set..<\/p>\n

This brought me as far as 2.6.32.27, which still failed the F14 udev<\/em> test, but then I remembered the ‘long-term-support’ incremental patches, which went all the way to 2.6.32.59!<\/p>\n

So, back to patch + patch + patch – while checking for any fails<\/strong> along the way..\u00a0\u00a0 In most cases, the patches worked on the non-standard APC kernel, with just a bit of fuzz<\/strong>, and only the occasional fail\/reject..<\/strong><\/p>\n

Now, the APC is running the latest long-term release of the kernel:<\/p>\n

$ uname -a\nLinux rgapc01 2.6.32.59-apc #1 Tue Aug 21 17:01:45 BST 2012 armv6l armv6l armv6l GNU\/Linux<\/pre>\n
Sadly, F14 udev<\/em> still throws a tombstone, so I will just have to hope that a ‘newer’ kernel is available soon…<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
