NVIDIA 418.56 with the 5.1 patch compiles and runs OK, but if you are still using VMware 15.0.3 – with the vmmon\/vmnet patches – the installer may fail, with a rather vague error message:<\/p>\n

The log simply states that vmware-installer<\/strong> has failed with ‘error 256’, and the solution for this is simple – update to VMware 15.0.4, and apply the patches for vmmon\/vmnet, and everything should work OK.<\/p>\n
