Update:  Crashes Windows 7 &#8211; And a Solution.."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>UPDATE:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After more tests, I found a solution..<\/p>\n<p>Rather than &#8216;update&#8217; from 12.0.0 to 12.0.1, you have to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">deinstall<\/span> 12.0.0 first:<\/p>\n<pre>\r\n<strong><span style=\"font-family: courier new,courier,monospace;\"># vmware-installer --uninstall-product vmware-workstation<\/span><\/strong><\/pre>\n<p>&#8211; remembering to answer &#8216;<strong>yes<\/strong>&#8216; to the &#8221;<em>Do you wish to keep your configuration files?<\/em>&#8221; message.<\/p>\n<p>Then install 12.0.1 as a new install..<\/p>\n<pre><strong><span style=\"font-family: courier new,courier,monospace;\"># ~\/VMware-Workstation-Full-12.0.1-3160714.x86_64.bundle<\/span><\/strong><\/pre>\n<p>Now everything seems to be working OK, again..<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n<p>The Problem:<br \/>\nAs soon as I tried to resize the (win7) guest to fullscreen, windows froze, and then flashed an error message in a small blue box in a black screen, and then <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">slowly<\/span> displayed the fullscreen window.\u00a0\u00a0 When I tried to run Photoshop, it kept freezing, and then I actually got the famous blue screen of death with a &#8216;page fault&#8217; error..\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I have tried this on two different x86_64 systems, with similar results..<\/p>\n<p>So&#8230;\u00a0 I am <em>uninstalling<\/em> VMware 12.0.1<\/p>\n<pre><code>vmware-installer --uninstall-product vmware-workstation<\/code><\/pre>\n<p>&#8211; and (re)installing 12.0.0, for the time being !<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n<p>VMware <strong>12.0.1<\/strong> has just been released, and I have tested this with Kernel <strong>4.3<\/strong> (4.3-rc6) and it compiles\/loads\/runs OK- at first.\u00a0 There is no need for the vmmon &#8216;patch&#8217; any more..<\/p>\n<p>Release notes are here:\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/pubs.vmware.com\/Release_Notes\/en\/workstation\/12pro\/workstation-1201-release-notes.html\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/pubs.vmware.com\/Release_Notes\/en\/workstation\/12pro\/workstation-1201-release-notes.html<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 No specific mention is made of Kernel 4.3 compatibility..<\/p>\n<p>This is good timing, as Kernel 4.3 &#8216;Final&#8217; is due to be released soon..<\/p>\n<p><em>Robert Gadsdon.\u00a0\u00a0 October 30, 2015.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>UPDATE: After more tests, I found a solution..
