Thanks to Niol for reporting this – and thanks to mkubecek for the patch itself – there is a fix for vmmon with Kernel 4.1.-rc1. After further research, I have found a simple solution for the VMware 12.5.6 runtime, with Fedora 26, thanks to comments by ronengi and others on the Archlinux site ( https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/vmware-patch/ ).
