Kernel 3.13-rc4 – VMware and (Patched) NVIDIA OK..

Adventures With Linux ™ Posted on December 16, 2013 by RGDecember 16, 2013

Updated the test system to kernel 3.13-rc4, and VMware 10.0.1 and (patched) NVIDIA 331.20 compile and load OK.. NVIDIA appear to have pulled driver version 319.76 from their ftp download site – ftp://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86_64/, for some reason.. Robert Gadsdon.    December 16, 2013.

Kernel 3.12 Released – VMware OK, NVIDIA Still Needs Patch..

Adventures With Linux ™ Posted on November 4, 2013 by RGNovember 4, 2013

Details of changes are here:  http://permalink.gmane.org/gmane.linux.kernel/1589267 As you will see, this post includes some interesting comments on future kernel releases, and a possible … Continue reading →

VMware – 10.0.1 Released..

Adventures With Linux ™ Posted on October 25, 2013 by RGOctober 25, 2013

VMware has just released version 10.0.1, and – as with 10.0 – it compiles and installs OK on the ‘latest’ kernels – 3.11.6 and 3.12-rc6. How times have changed…   Previous ‘new’ versions of VMware always seemed to need patching for the latest Linux kernel version, and NVIDIA were always right up-to-date…   Now, it seems, the reverse is true.. … Continue reading →

3.11.2 – Better now?

Adventures With Linux ™ Posted on September 27, 2013 by RGSeptember 27, 2013

I had been experiencing occasional problems with X and KDE with the previous 3.11 kernel versions, and had reverted to 3.10.12, but have just updated to 3.11.2, and it seems to be better – so far…. VMware 10 compiles and runs OK, and NVIDIA 319.49 – with the 3.11 patch – works OK.    I have seen reports … Continue reading →
